The Masters.
On Sunday night it was the final round of the Masters, and I am sure we were all watching the golf and dreaming of playing at the lovely Augusta National, I know for myself that I was very impressed with what I saw and how the players plotted their way round that tough course! Young Jordan Spieth started the day tied for the lead and went on to make a good opening to his round, unfortunately local knowledge is something he didn't have round Augusta as it was only his first Masters and this showed throughout his day. However he did do very well to deal with all the pressure that was resting on his shoulders, I am sure in the coming future he'll be one to watch! None the less, it was Bubba Watson's day who seemed to be on great putting form! With mammoth drives and unbelievable touch around the greens there was never going to be anybody else to claim the sort after price of the green jacket! Congratulations to Bubba! Furthermore as the winner has been decided so has the sweepstake winners!!

Jock Stewart Cup Competition
On Sunday 13 April 2014 Brampton men hosted Bourn GC in the first round of Jock Stewart, a three match foursomes competition with teams from three handicap bands playing off scratch. On a glorious day our team produced some excellent golf to run out 2.5 - 0.5 winners.
Our lead group (H'cap 6 -10) Mick Ford and Dave Humphreys halved their match with a birdie on the 18th, with Scott Ballentine and Keith Curr (H'cap 11 - 14) involved in a roller coaster match having gone 2 up, they then went 2 down eventually running out winners 2 up. Our final pair (H'cap 15 - 20) Denis Lea and John Topping continued from where they left off last year by producing a stunning 4&3 win to blow the opposition away. We now wait the winners of Lakeside Lodge and Barkway Park in the second round.
George
Last week James Reeson and myself played in the spring classic at Hunstanton and Kings Lynn. This first day was foursomes at Hunstanton we were playing of plus 1 and scored 34 points. This was at bad as it could have been as we hit the ball well from tee to green but both of our putters remained cold throughout the day, this left us in 14th place out of 50. The second day was better ball at Kings Lynn we got of to a good start with a birdie on the first we then both played well but didn't make many birdies and finished up with 39 points. This meant that our final finishing position was 12th so a solid week which could have been much better. James and I also have a big thank you to say to Brampton member Richard Boyd who caddied for us at Hunstanton and provided us with great course knowledge which is needed on a links course. I have my exams coming up on the 23rd and 24th but my next competition is the national assistants qualifying round at Haverhill on the 30th of April.
