Welcome to the post Easter edition of the newsletter and what a great weekend it was.

The golf course was busy, the weather was good and the competitions were well supported with some fantastic scores.

The Importance of Fitting

Last week Chris Cuthbert and I went to the Titleist National Fitting Centre based at St Ives and Chris was fitted with some new clubs.

As well as Chris getting the clubs fitted to suit his build and swing the other area that was looked at was the gapping (or distances each club went so there were no duplicates.) How far do you hit each club? And do you have a club for all distances that is possibly a question you may not have asked yourself before. Chris has put the clubs to great use winning the Good Friday competition with his partner Peter North well done to both of you.

Good Friday 4BBB Stableford (18-04-14)

In first place with 41 points after countback was Peter North & Chris Cuthbert
2nd with the same score was Richard Goodwin & Scott Boswell
3rd with 40 points was David Rawson & Amanda Rawson,
and in 4th was Brian Strand and Tom Strand with a very respectable 40 points also.

Presidents Putter (19-04-14)

This was a bogey competition, as there was such a good turnout there was money for the first 7.
In 1st place was Martin Leach with a score of 4, Congratulations Martin!
2nd was Roz Irons with 3 points
3rd after countback was Pat Doyle with 3 points
4th also with 3 points was Mark White
5th was Steve Cox with 2 points
6th also with 2 points was James Wise, and finally 7th with also a very respectable 2 points was Jonathan Edwards!

The Two's for the Presidents Putter are as followed,

Bank Holiday Greensomes (21-04-14)

The final competition of the bank holiday.
In 1st place with a score of 41 points Adam Longford & Tony Butler, Congratulations!
2nd place was taken by Colin Moody & Mike Pyett 1 point behind on 40
3rd place fell to Mike Dunn & Lynda Hall just edging out Ray Stonell and Corrine Everett both with 39 points

A huge well done to all winners over the weekend!

Ladies Matches

The following team was selected to play in a Ladies Friendly match at Menzies, on Monday 14th April:
Anne Roberts and Diane Martin, Sally Palmer and Val Williams, Liz Olding and Trina Miller, Julie Miller and Katie Dixon.
It was a tight match with Brampton winning one game and halving in three. The winning score was 2.5 to 1.5 to Brampton.

With the cherry trees in full blossom, this challenging course provided a wonderful backdrop for an engrossing contest.

Mail on Sunday

For the Mail on Sunday 3rd round match, on Wednesday 16th April, the home team, Brampton, were represented by Roz Irons, Julie Miller, Amanda Rawson, Ann Norman and Lesley Ince.

The home team lost by a close margin of 3-2 to the team from Greetham Valley.

Much wonderful golf was played by both teams at Brampton. The visitors were very complimentary about our beautiful course.

Jock Stewart Cup Competition

On Sunday 13 April 2014 Brampton men hosted Bourn GC in the first round of Jock Stewart, a three match foursomes competition with teams from three handicap bands playing off scratch. On a glorious day our team produced some excellent golf to run out 2.5 - 0.5 winners.

Our lead group (H'cap 6 -10) Mick Ford and Dave Humphreys halved their match with a birdie on the 18th, with Scott Ballentine and Keith Curr (H'cap 11 - 14) involved in a roller coaster match having gone 2 up, they then went 2 down eventually running out winners 2 up. Our final pair (H'cap 15 - 20) Denis Lea and John Topping continued from where they left off last year by producing a stunning 4&3 win to blow the opposition away. We now wait the winners of Lakeside Lodge and Barkway Park in the second round.
