Last week the weather persuaded the seniors to turn out in force. 58 players entered the Friday Stableford which was won by Bob Burgess with an incredible 49 points and in the process going round in less shots than his age. In second place with a very creditable score of 41 points was John Maith with Ian Bennett beating Glyn Evans for 3rd place on count back with 39 points.
With summer on the way it was the ideal time to remove the winter rules and preferred lies.
It's typical we have had a week of heavy showers!
The course is in great condition and the forecast seems to be good this weekend.
Encouraging but disappointing start to the Juniors league campaign. We took on St Neots at their course, the weather was beautiful with not much wind, ideal golfing weather really.
Very few shots were given in the opening matches, last years Captain Jack Edwards going down 3 & 2 to Owen Meades, Harry Edwards, vice captain in 2016 kept his nerve and chipped to inches on the last green to take his match 2 up.
Lewis Gabb was handed a huge challenge giving 11 shots and did well to only go down 4 & 3, Dan Pedlar, captain 2016 was unlucky to lose on the last hole.
Final pairings saw Chloe Drewery and Nick Miller give 2 shots and 9 shots respectively, Chloe losing 2 & 1, Nick winning 2 & 1.
Final match score was 4 to 2 in St Neots favour. St Neots looked after us very well as they always do, we wish them well for the remainder of the season.
