Ladies news

Ladies Away Day(s) - Shendish Manor 2016

27 Ladies braved both the M1 and M25 to travel to Hertfordshire's Shendish Manor. Monday morning broke cloudy with drizzle and we were afraid we would spend our first day on the course in miserable weather. However the sun shone and the birds sang and all 27 of us set off in pleasant conditions.

The course proved to be tougher than it looked with very tricky greens and a prevailing wind of 18+ sought to make the course even more difficult.

The hotel was charming, staff helpful and the food delightful. Thanks go to Katie Dixon for providing the apres golf drinks of Pimms, which were fully enjoyed by the ladies. Along with numerous bottles of wine and vast mountains of Olives (our captains gift) .and of course the crisps which somehow found their way under my pillow!!!!!! I wonder who did that!!

Tuesday dawned, a few groggy heads and rain. More rain than we hoped for, in fact torrents of the damn stuff. Not to be deterred we valiant ladies set forth in the pouring rain and almost all of us completed the 18 holes. Which as you can imagine was a major feat.

Prizes were well distributed between the ladies as follows:

Monday - Individual stableford

Silver Division: 1st May Burn, 2nd Shirley Osborne, 3rd Cath Emery.

Bronze Division 1st Karen Large, 2nd Debbie Dale, 3rd Anne Gibb

NP silver - Kay Osborne
NP Bronze - Debbie Wastling

Tuesday - 4BBB

1st Shirley Osborne/Sally Palmer, 2nd Hilary Rogers/Karen Large, 3rd Cath Emery/Anne Gibb.

Best front nine - Jan Gilfillan/Kay Osborn
Best back nine - Jane McGlashen/Anne Roberts

Best Overall 2 days

1st - Sally Palmer 66 points - Srixon Driver
2nd -Shirley Osborne 64 points - Cleveland Wedge

It was a lovely two days and lovely to see Debbie Dale who travelled up from Norfolk to be with us.

Thank you to all the ladies who attended and made it such an enjoyable time.
