Charity Day 2016 - In Aid Of Target Ovarian Cancer
The day might have started dull and gloomy on the weather front but this was superseded by a full field of 120 players all determined to have a great day. Lots of prizes to be won and thanks to every sponsor for their kind donations towards these. Congratulations go to all the winners with the whole competition being won by Mo and Doug Poole, John Davey and Karen Cox. The competition had it all; good golf, good banter, good scores and even good grief!! JD (John Davies) had a hole in one on the 15th. A kind donation to the Charity followed his achievement, so an 'Ace' result.
Play was followed by a rolling hog roast meal - well it didn't roll very far as it was cooked to perfection by then. Thanks to Timmy Thomas for supplying and starting the roasting process. Well done also to Kevin in the kitchen and all the staff who worked industriously all day. Special thanks also to Kristina and Sarah who ensured the figures and the food were spot on - superb work girls.
These days do not go ahead without a great support from the members. A big mention to ticket seller supreme June Cowper. June's efforts are second to none and it goes without saying that she has performed above and beyond the call of duty throughout the year and for the Charity draw alone sold over 3500 tickets. Her time and effort in doing so should never be overlooked. Well done June and obviously thanks to those that bought.
Special recognition goes to Lynne and Richard Fitzjohn who masterminded the whole auction by contacting many people which ensured we had great items. They also supplied detailed information on auction pieces, kept a check on monies, tirelessly sold items on eBay (masterminded by Richard and many, many thanks to all who donated towards this), the list is endless and I am so grateful to them. In all, a massive thanks go to the Fitzjohns and all individuals who so kindly gave towards the auction. I am very grateful also to the continued support from DHL, my appreciations to Mike Dunn.
So, the auction began, superbly orchestrated by Doug Poole and his very able assistant Mo. Hands were being raised more times than at a convention to oust Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party. Unlike him, we had fantastic support from the audience and the final total raised was a monumental. £17200.00
Target Ovarian Cancer is a relatively young charity but 1 in 50 women will be diagnosed every year (7000 ladies in the UK, who might be your wife, sister, mother, aunt, or cousin). If early signs are recognised there is a 90% success rate. The fantastic response from you all cannot be put into words.

Adam Pike participated in the County Open at Thorpe Wood GC on Sunday. He played well and managed to finish tied 1st after 36 holes on 139 (-5). Unfortunately he lost in a playoff for the title. However Adam mentioned how it was nice to see so many Brampton park members playing in the tournament and how many of you supported him by following the playoff.
Thanks to everyone involved, a great day for Brampton Park.
