Ladies Club Championships 2016
On a rather dull and breezy day the most prestigious competition in the ladies calendar year took place. Over two rounds it was all about consistency and like the Great British Bake off there was only one Star golfer, Belinda Borneo, with an overall gross score of 163. Congratulations go to Belinda for her second consecutive club champs. Second and third place respectively was Kay Osborne (170) and Cath Emery (175). The Davies Shield kindly sponsored by JD for the best nett score was won by Karen Large with a very healthy 139 (rounds of nett 70 & 69). Well done Karen and a wee 'snip' in handicap! Second place went to Ann Norman with a combined score of 150.
The Sapphire Trophy was also contested on this day. A Stableford, 18 hole competition sponsored by past captain Lesley Ince, it was a close contest. First place went to Sarah Rennie, with 31 points. A new name on the locker room board and Sarah's first win so many congratulations to her. Second was Julie Miller (30 points) and third Jane McGlashan (28 points).
Congratulations to all winners and a big thank you to all sponsors. The day was completed by a very enjoyable meal, freshly cooked by Chef Kevin. In all, a very successful day.

Wilkinson Sore(d)
Brampton Park Ladies reached the semi-finals of the Jean Wilkinson County knockout competition. Held at Ramsey Golf Club, 7 ladies pitted their wits against their opposition Ely City. A tough and exciting match ensued with scores tied at 3-3 with only one match still in play. Jane McGlashan was 2 down with 3 to play. In true fighting spirit, Jane brought it back to all square after 18 holes….. On to the 19th hole, followed by a posse of supporters. A close and thrilling finale saw Jane narrowly lose the hole, resulting in Ely going forward to the final with Saffron Walden. The only consolation in this epic battle was that Ely were the eventual winners.
Thanks go to team leader Elaine Cardwell for all her hard work and organising skills. Many ladies have valiantly played throughout the rounds so congratulations to them for all their efforts in getting Brampton Park to the semi's in this prestigious county competition. We have now reached this stage two years running so we should be very proud of their achievements. Thanks also to all the caddies and supporters who have been invaluable. Brampton ladies take a bow, you have been fantastic throughout, and a force to be reckoned with throughout the County.
