Ladies On Tour- Connemara 2016
The 25th Anniversary of our men competing against the Irish 'lads' of Connemara, was met by an invitation from the Lady Captain Maura to our ladies to experience the wonder of Ireland. 16 of us set off on an unknown voyage but one that will never be forgotten. From the minute we arrived we all knew this would be an adventure of fun, friendship and falling over. They know how to party!
Thelma and Louise (aka Karen Cox and June Cowper) ably drove our clubs, trolleys and suitcases over to Clifden. The rest of us had a leisurely flew to Knock. Grateful thanks to Karen and June. The evening of our arrival was a chance to meet the Connemara ladies. They might have been small in number but their hearts were huge. A fantastic night and all ready for our game on Saturday. The weather could not have been better. Bright sunshine, a calm day and a chance to get to know our hosts. They did not disappoint and yet more bonding with their lovely ladies. On a bright sunny morning, Sunday looked like we would be the luckiest people with yet another game in the sunshine. Unfortunately, the Irish mist descended upon us and 9 holes were played it what could only be described as torrential rain. Spirits were not dampened however and after a few jars of the 'black stuff' we were ready to be entertained by our hosts that evening.
A champagne reception at Abbeyglen Castle hotel followed by a superb meal with our hosts was a fitting last night in the company of these lovely ladies. Lady Captain May was even pictured on a baronial chair amid much laughter. The ladies were presented with a beautiful hand painted Bodhran with both clubs etched indelibly not only in paint but in friendship.
We had the most wonderful time and as we waved our genial hosts goodbye there were a few tears of sadness. That was the measure of this unforgettable experience.

Xmas Spirits - Note from Competitions and Fixtures Committee
The season of Xmas Spirits is once again nearly upon us and we would like to advise you of a few changes for this year's programme as well as inform our newer members about the competition format.
- There will be a series of 9 Mixed Individual Stableford Xmas Spirit competitions this year, one more than usual. The prizes are (mostly) alcoholic in nature. - There will be winners prizes for each daily competition as well as the top 8 players with the best aggregated total from 5 scores out of nine. - Your aggregate best score will be calculated for you; you do not have to enter all 9 competitions to qualify. Running aggregate totals will be posted in the locker rooms regularly. - Entry fees for each competition remain at £2 except for competition 5 and 9 which will be 'double bubble' at £4. - You will be advised by email in advance of the day what the lowest 'winning' Stableford score is likely to be so you will know whether to attend the prize-giving. - CARDINAL RULE: Winners plus the best scores in descending order MUST attend the prize-giving OR nominate a representative to collect on their behalf. Prizes will be distributed to highest scores from ALL competitions in descending order until they run out. If you're not there someone else gets your prize.
The biggest change over previous years is tee booking.
As an experiment, from Xmas Spirit 4 the Competitions and Fixtures Committee will make 10 tee times for each competition bookable in advance on HowDidIDo to try and mitigate the mad Pro-shop booking scramble each weekend. This online entry only represents just over an hour for each competition day, all the other tee slots will still need to be booked as usual in the pro shop from 7.30 a.m., 7 days in advance.
Please note a tee time booked by either method allows either casual play or entry into the Xmas Spirit. It is our hope that as many of you as possible will join in and have a go in the Spirits.
PREFERRED LIES
Preferred lies and winter rules were put into operation on Monday 17th October . We hope you have been enjoying your golf here at Brampton through the summer and will continue to do so as we head into autumn.
Winter Tee Bookings And Pro Shop Opening Hours
As of the 5th November we will be taking Tee bookings at weekends from 7.30 am so you get an extra ½ hour in bed before you press the button. Would everyone also please let us know as soon as possible 01480434705 if you cannot make a Tee time especially at weekends. This will allow as many members as possible to get a game through the autumn and winter months.
Please Note The Winter Pro Shop Hours come in to effect from Monday 31st October:
Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm Weekends 7.30am - 4.30pm
Look forward to seeing you all over the autumn period.
