US Open

American Brooks Koepka equalled the US Open's lowest winning score of 16 under to claim his first Major at Erin Hills. Koepka had three successive birdies from the 14th to match the total set by Rory McIlroy when he won in 2011 on a par-71 layout compared to this par 72.

His five-under 67 was only bettered by Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who posted 66 to tie for second on 12 under with overnight leader Brian Harman (72). England's Tommy Fleetwood, shot a level-par 72 to end fourth on 11 under. The 26-year-old from Southport, playing in just his second US Open, was unable to keep pace with playing partner Koepka on the front nine.

Invitation Day Results - Write Up From David Bartlett

We had a highly successful Invitation Day on Saturday 17th June with 54 entrants. A big thank you to all our members who again brought guests and helped set the scene. The course was again in excellent condition and it was good to be able to mention to our members' guests that the Men's County Championship had taken place only a week earlier on our course.

The weather was very hot, but fluids were freely available, I think everyone was exhausted when they had completed their 36 holes. Prizes included 1st in the morning and 1st in the afternoon with 1st and 2nd prizes overall as well as 8 nearest the pins:

Morning Winners: Mike Gays and Richard Bond
Afternoon Winners: Simon Bell and J. Bell
2nd Over 36 holes: Joe Zarate and R. Bowler
1st Over 36 holes: Scott Boswell and A. Knaggs

Very Well Done to all of them!

I would like to thank all those who helped to make it such a successful day, especially the Ladies who organised players' registration and those Club and Committee members who contributed their time, effort and generous prizes. Thank you.

The catering and drinks side were well taken care of, so thanks to our staff who kept up with events and met demand so well. On a very hot day it was a big ask for players to wait for either the first or second sitting for the evening meal, but the food was really excellent and well worth the wait.
