Midweek Medal 25/4/18

The first Midweek Medal of the year was won by Simon Rose with a nett 68. In second place with a nett 69 was Ian Robinson, third with a nett score of 70 was Dennis Lea, and finishing in fourth on countback with a nett 71 was Mark White.

There were 4 twos, they were made by Mike Gays, Kevin Wright, Gary Coates and Scott Ballentine, which two was worth £15.75 credited to their Pro Shop account. Well done to all the winners.

Anniversary Cup 28/4/18

In the tricky greensomes format Dennis Lea & Kevin Thaxter scored a brilliant 42 points which won by 4 shots! In second place with 38 points was James Wise & Jack Miles, and finishing in third place was John Newton & Brian Fett with 37 points.

There were 8 twos on the day, they were made by Ian Robinson/Mick Ford, Brian Fett/John Newton, JDW Davies/Richard Scott, Peter Fielder/Matt Casey, Dave King/Steve Kessler, Colin Allison/Fay Allison X2, Steve Palmer/Sally Palmer. Each player received £5.50, credited to their Pro Shop account. Well done to everyone who participated

Captain’s Away Weekend

I have a number of tee times available for my Captain’s weekend at the Belfry 12th – 14th May and I would like to offer these up to members who perhaps could not commit for the entire weekend, but would nevertheless consider driving across for the day.

Availability is:

Sat 12th May on the Brabazon - I have 7 places available, tee times 11.40 to 12.50 - cost £50
Sun 13th May on the PGA National - I have 6 places available, tee times 11.00 to 12.10 - cost £40
Mon 14th May on the Derby - I have lots of available tee times 09.16 to 10.12 - cost £20

The Belfry is a 75-minute drive from Brampton.

It's 14 clubs for a reason

This week marks the start of a series of articles where we focus on making sure that you are getting the very most out of the clubs in your bag. A key way to do this is to look at your set as one, rather than breaking it down into woods, irons and wedges.

What does your set look like?
As you know, we’re big advocates of custom fitting for golfers of all standards. Many of you have taken advantage of this and are now hitting the ball further and straighter than you ever have before.

While this is fantastic, if you’re hitting your woods further you may have been left with a fiddly gap to your longest iron; likewise, if your new irons are a club longer then you will inevitably have a gap after your PW.

Look at your clubs as a whole
It’s only by looking at your set as a whole that you’ll be able to spot and react to any gaps, meaning you’ll have a club for every shot you could face on the course.
