Titleist Trial Day Here at Brampton

Last Wednesday we had a Titleist Trial Day here at Brampton. This was a chance for everyone to come and try the New: Titleist woods, irons and wedges. We had a full fitting schedule and it was good to watch the fitter Lewis help people to the correct specs we learnt a lot (which we can now use in our fittings).

Titleist were the first this year but keep your eyes on the newsletter as we have a FootJoy shoe fitting day here next Wednesday 6th May followed by a Callaway Fitting Day on the Wednesday 13th May. Please give us a call to book your appointment or to register you interest. Or alternatively click here to get in touch.

Group Coaching

Throughout April we have been running some group sessions for the ladies and seniors. These have been very well attended and hopefully have helped improve all areas of their games.

Thank you very much too all that attended and good luck with your golf through the season.

As we enter May we enter National Golf Month here at Brampton we are putting on some events, to not only encourage new golfers to the game but also entice those that have stopped playing.

Wednesday 20th May - 6pm - 7pm
Saturday 23rd May - 10.30am - 11.30am

If you know anyone interested in attending please let us know or go to the website National Golf Month.

On the back of this we also have some ladies and men's beginner group lessons planned for June.

On Sunday James Reeson & Owen Davies played in the county foursomes championships and won with a great score of gross 138 (-6) this meant that they won by a clear 11 shots!!! Many other Brampton Park members also took part and it is great to see our club being well represented at county events. For more information on county events throughout the year please visit the CAGU website.

April Update

The Easter weekend was a lovely weekend with a lot of competitions on. All seemed fairly well subscribed.

Adam & Eve passed off well. The usual sit down meal was replaced with a gourmet BBQ cooked by Captain Chris Cuthbert. It was very well organised and those that partook seemed to enjoy.

The Major is sponsored by Debbie and Nick Wastling who presented the lovely Crystal prizes.

1st with 43 points were Steve and Sally Palmer.

2nd with 42 points were Ray and Julie Miller

The Ladies Coronation Foursomes was contested with the results being:

1st - Fay Allison and Cath Emery with 37 points

2nd - Kay Osborne and Ann Norman with 35 points

3rd - Yvonee Palfrey and Anne Gibb with 30 points.

This sees Fay and Cath go through to the regional finals.

We also had a mixed match versus Elton Furze. We fielded 8 pairs which is a good number but unfortunately we couldn't win all the games and ended up losing 5 -3. The wind must have been a factor in our loss as it was blowing a gale!

County Coaching

We held our first County Juniors Coaching session here at Brampton on Saturday. Darren Scholes and I are the coaches to the Futures squad. These are the lads who are knocking on the door for county selection and our role is to help them take their golf to the next level.

We had a fantastic afternoon with the skills challenges and work on both their swings and short game. We both very much look forward to the summer sessions.

New GolfBuddy WT5 watch

A GPS device might be just what you need to help you go after those pins and shoot lower scores. Slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, the WT5 is a sports tech watch that provides yardages to the front, middle and back of the green. Among the many super features there’s a pedometer and scoring function. This watch is just one of the brand’s distance measuring devices in an extensive line-up, and you can check out the full range in our shop.

Srixon balls

What ball will suit me?

Last week we reminded you how important it is to play with the right ball because we all have different swing speeds. On top of this our own budgets vary and it can be difficult to know if you’re getting the best out of your ball. Ask us about Srixon’s range which covers golfers of all abilities and watch this video to find out more.
