Lady Captain's Day
If you weren't around on Saturday 1st August you would have missed the spectacular HMS Phillpotts trundling down the fairways of Brampton.
Cath Emery and other ladies had transformed a buggy into a ship to mark the Navy side of Lady Captain Nell.
The day was beautiful and lots of ladies turned up all in various guises of navy clothing or pirates.
It started with a bit of bubbly upstairs and was then followed by a Singles Stableford.
To ensure it wasn't too easy a day the 10th was the longest drive blindfold. And to be honest I think a lot of ladies might now take a blindfold round with them such was the calibre of the drives.
Diane Aloia won in the bronze division getting her ball past the first set of bunkers. Lynda Hall won in the silver division getting her ball almost to the second set. Both ladies put theirs on the fairway as well. How good is that!
The day was finished off with a lovely meal and the prize giving, speeches and some very lovely gifts to from all the ladies to myself. Results were:
Silver Division
1st Mo Poole
2nd Sally Palmer
3rd Trina Miller
Bronze Division
1st Cath Emery
2nd Elaine Cardwell
3rd Yvonne Palfrey with Karen Large also coming in on count back.
A big thank you to Al for helping with tee times and arrangements, Nick and his green staff as the course was playing really well. Also thanks to the office and to the kitchen and waiting staff.
Of course a really big thank you goes to all the ladies for their contributions and for joining in and I hope they all enjoyed the day and finally I can't finish without thanking Jane McGlashan who was my ship's captain (and the one that crashed the boat) for the day. I had a great time and one I will remember for a long time.
